Fiery toll booth truck accident ends New Jersey man's life

A fiery truck accident took the life of a New Jersey man too soon. The 65-year-old man was a resident of Hackettstown, located west of Newark, New Jersey and was paying a road toll when the crash occurred.

The fatal truck accident happened on a busy interstate when a tractor trailer slammed into the victim's car in a toll booth. According to police, both truck and car caught on fire, trapping the car under the burning truck cab. The crash pushed both vehicles through the toll plaza to the shoulder of the road. The New Jersey man was declared dead at the scene of the accident. The 55-year-old driver of the Shop Rite tractor-trailer was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Police said that a witness saw the tractor-trailer rise up as it moved toward the toll booth, causing damage to the toll area as it collided with the car. Authorities stated they are still investigating this deadly truck accident and will examine the mechanical condition of the tractor-trailer and read the trucking log to determine the cause of the accident. No charges have been issued against the truck driver.

Truck drivers should deliver goods and materials on time and with reasonable caution. Truck drivers must follow basic road regulations, such as slowing down when approaching a toll booth. Practicing responsible driving habits cannot only prevent collisions but also save lives.

Losing a loved one due to the irresponsible driving habits or just by accident can be overwhelming for any New Jersey family. Fortunately, a fatal truck accident that occurs as a result of negligence can be the legal responsibility of the truck driver and the trucking company who hired the driver could be held accountable as well. A knowledgeable legal professional can help any accident victim can help.
