Truck collides with parked truck, killing three and injuring two

Truck accidents often result in extensive damage to other vehicles and roadways, and they can kill and injure people inside and outside vehicles as well. One recent truck accident along Interstate 287 in northern New Jersey is testament to that fact.

Recently, in Mahwah Township at around 12:30 p.m. on a weekday, a tractor-trailer rear-ended a cement truck that had stopped on the shoulder for repairs, killing three men standing near the truck. The dead men were identified as the truck's driver and a repair crew sent to fix the truck. After hitting the cement truck, the semi-trailer unit struck a barrier and a car. Both the semi-trailer and car caught fire. The couple in the car suffered minor injuries, and the truck driver got out of his vehicle safely. Police are investigating why the truck swerved onto the road's shoulder and then into the cement truck.

This accident shows just how devastating a truck accident can be. Both the size of the tractor and trailer and any cargo onboard can add to the devastation. Fatalities are more likely in a truck accident, and serious injuries leading to permanent disability are also common. These dire consequences can affect not only a truck driver, but also other motorists. If a truck accident victim can demonstrate negligence on the part of a driver or the driver's employer, then legal remedies could be available.

Truck accident victims may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit citing negligence. In such an accident, drivers are often painted as the guilty party alone, but anyone filing such charges should also determine whether the truck company that employed the driver is also at fault.
