Crosswalk accident kills woman in New Jersey
Crosswalks may not always be safe for pedestrians. There are times when vehicles cause dangerous accidents on the streets of Newark. Some of those accidents involve other motor vehicles and others are crosswalk accidents.
Recently, a pedestrian in Newark was the victim of this type of tragic accident. A 49-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run crosswalk accident. The victim was crossing Bergen Street at Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard when she was struck by a truck that was turning right. A witness told the police that the truck then fled the scene.
Authorities said that the victim, although awake, was unresponsive at the scene of the accident. She was then taken to a local University Hospital where she died. Police are still investigating and are in search of video footage of the accident as well as information that would help.
Such accidents bring great sadness and tragedy to the victim’s family. In many cases, an accident like this is caused by negligence on the part of the driver. They may also incur expenditures that cause them financial inconveniences like medical bills and funeral expenses. During these difficult times, the family of the victim may exercise their legal rights to recover compensation.
The victim’s family may be in need of an explanation regarding the steps to take in this recovery and a lawyer may be able to provide such help. Personal injury and wrongful death lawyers have the expertise to handle accident cases and other concerns related to personal injury. The lawyer can walk the victim’s family through the entire process of recovering compensation for their damages.
